Oscars Death Race 2020: The Rest

This is it, end of the road, and a new personal record as I have seen all of the oscar nominated film before a ceremony for the first time. Every other year I have tried there has always been one that was impossible to get a hold of. It has been fun.

Corpus Christi (2019)
Solid drama that is bleak and with the feeling of hopelessness in the end. In a good way, I guess.
Nominated for Best International Feature Film in 2020.

Pain and Glory (2019)
The surprise of the year for me. Every other Almodovar film I have seen I have hated. But this was great, and not a glorified soap opera as the other films. Thumbs up!
Nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role (Antonio Banderas), Best International Feature Film in 2020.

1917 (2019)
It has it’s moments, elevated by a great score. But it is rather dull, and the one-take gimmick really works against it, in my opinion. It is as watching someone else play a video game, something I do not enjoy in the first place.
Nominated for Best Motion Picture of the Year, Best Achievement in Directing, Best Original Screenplay, Best Achievement in Cinematography, Best Achievement in Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Achievement in Production Design, Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures (Original Score), Best Achievement in Visual Effects, Best Achievement in Sound Mixing, Best Achievement in Sound Editing in 2020.

A Sister (2018)
A pretty bland year for the short films. This was good, but not more to say about it.
Nominated for Best Live Action Short Film in 2020.

Brotherhood (2018)
Maybe the favorite of the bunch, but it still wasn’t all that great.
Nominated for Best Live Action Short Film in 2020.

The Neighbors’ Window (2019)
Okay, I guess.
Nominated for Best Live Action Short Film in 2020.

Saria (2019)
Yeah, this one also okay, I guess.
Nominated for Best Live Action Short Film in 2020.

Nefta Football Club (2018)
At least it is not depressing as the others. Quite original and funny.
Nominated for Best Live Action Short Film in 2020.
